The bar area features intimate nooks and booth seats for a cosy chat, as well as generous space for a group of friends to mix and mingle or dance the night away.
The restaurant dining area at Braided Rivers offers comfort and intimacy, with comfortable seating and an enticing range of cuisine on the menu. Suitable for romantic dinners for two, special occasion dining, or small groups Braided Rivers offers the ideal space to meet your friends or colleagues for private functions and dinner. The restaurant is open Tuesday - Thursday 6 - 9pm and Friday and Saturdays 5:30 - 9:30pm, reservations are strongly recommended.
At Braided Rivers Restaurant + Bar we also have several spaces suitable for private functions. Whether its our courtyard (suitable for up to 25 people) with retractable roof and casual patio style seating, plus a fireplace and comfy sofas for winter, or the mezzanine floor for private lunches, dinners or business meetings (suitable for around 40 guests).

Recognised by the Beef & Lamb Awards in 2012 and again in 2013 try one of our 'gold standard' steak meals hot off our mantague steakhouse broiler - especially imported from America to deliver delicious juicy steak, the Montague delivers a one-off combination of infra-red and radiant heat. This combination creates extreme temperatures and the result is a 'crust' on the outside of the steak sealing in all the natural juices for the ultimate steak meal. Ours is the only one in the South Island!

Recently opened (October 2013) the new al fresco area at Braided Rivers offers inner Ashburton convenience, and relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Enjoy lunch, dinner, or pre theatre drinks while you bask in the Mid Canterbury sunshine. Our free wi-fi service extends to the outdoors so why not move your office down here on a sunny afternoon and work with a glass of pinot gris in hand. Enjoy champagne, shelter from the hot sun under a wide umbrellas and feel a little bit extra special.
